About

Three generations, one factory.

SteedForm started in 1978 in a suburban Adelaide shed. Nearly fifty years on, we're still here — same family, same home town, a much bigger floor.

A chest of drawers in a Linden Park shed, a workshop in Ridgehaven, and a habit of outgrowing the next building.

Where it all began

Linden Park

A chest of drawers for a man named Noel.

In 1977, a man named Noel Basheer commissioned Neil Rasheed to make a chest of drawers. Neil built it in his Mum and Dad's shed in Linden Park. One commission, one piece of furniture — and the seed of everything that followed.

Ridgehaven · Glen Osmond Rd

An undeniable knack for the work.

With an undeniable knack for the art, Neil and his wife Diana started their first business — operating out the back of a small workshop in Ridgehaven. A year later, Peter Staples came on board, and Steed Custom Built Furniture was born.

For eight years the team built everything — kitchens, wardrobes, vanities, and (you guessed it) custom-built furniture. The business grew, and the address grew with it: a showroom on Glen Osmond Road followed.

The big moves

Francis Rd · Lafitte Rd

A new technique, a new name.

Peter Staples moved on from Steed Custom Built Furniture, and Neil packed up the crew and moved them to a new facility on Francis Road in Wingfield. After what Neil still describes as a happy accident, the company began post-forming laminate. That's where the Form in SteedForm comes from. The end of custom furniture; the beginning of decorative surface manufacturing.

Neil bought the company's first post-former and with new equipment came another move. This time, into a warehouse the company built itself on Lafitte Road in Wingfield. Lafitte Road let SteedForm focus on post-forming, develop new markets in Victoria, and — like a kid with a fresh pair of sneakers — grew right out of yet another building.

SteedForm family history — Today

Today

163-165 Cormack Rd

163-165 Cormack Road. Built once, built right.

And so it came to build and move into the facility we still call home — 163-165 Cormack Road in Wingfield.

In 2006, growing demand for locally-fabricated stone surfaces opened a new chapter, and we expanded stone capacity rather than retreated. By 2020, stone had grown so dominant in the industry that we made the call to go all-in on it — closing out the post-forming era after more than forty years, and focusing the floor exclusively on stone.

In 2024, we retooled around zero-silica engineered ranges and grew the sintered side of the workshop — the standards didn't change, just the product mix.

Today: a 3,500-square-metre workshop, mutliple installation crews on the road, three generations of the same family in the building. Same home town. Different tools.
